Website Design:

You may be wondering what our approach was when redesigning this website. If you are, stick around; we will go through our design process together!

Design Goals:

We wanted to make the website more appealing to look at, as well as to contain the most important information that you need to understand our organization. Our main focus was to improve the navigation experience of the website, while maintaining a cohesive design.

To do this, we decided to make a few changes to some of the core fundamentals of our site.

Colors:

For our branding colors, we have implemented an addition to our set of colors. Going from only Maroon & Gray to also incorporating Navy Blue & Ivory.

Maroon:

We decided to keep the maroon in our branding colors, but the usage of it was updated. As you can see, instead of being the color that covers the majority of the website, it has now been reduced to design details of the platform, such as the little lines under our title sections and our button outlines.

Gray:

The usage of gray has been updated as well; it used to be part of the font color of our text; now gray is used only on our transparent boxes on our website to highlight the important information that can be accessed through them.

Navy Blue:

Our incorporation of navy blue as one of the major colors of our website now provides a clean, crisp contrast, and it also reflects the trustworthy essence of navy blue projects, which is exactly what our organization wants to present to our youth.

Ivory:

Our new incorporation of Ivory was also implemented to contrast with navy blue, another of our major website colors, presenting a fresh look to our organization’s platform and a sense of calm for our viewers.

Fonts:

When designing the website, we settled on two main fonts for different purposes. Zodiak for our titles and Inter for our body text. Our main goals for the fonts were to maintain a balance between style and readability, whilst still maintaining a professional, yet fun feeling.

Zodiak:

We decided to go with Zodiak for the titles of our site because it maintained a balance between readability and style at large sizes. It also made for a more “studious” feel, which we felt expressed what we wanted to communicate with our redesign.

Inter:

Inter was chosen for the body text as it is one of the most used fonts in the digital era. It maintains good readability at small sizes and is used by many companies, such as the Figma design tool, for these purposes.

Our Tech Stack:

When choosing our tech stack, we prioritized ease of creation, flexibility, and maintenance as our core goals for our website.

WordPress:

WordPress is the world’s most popular website management software, with millions of sites depending on it for daily use, and, because of its longevity and reliability, we felt that it was the most appropriate choice when designing our website.

Elementor:

The main plugin we used to design our website was Elementor, which leverages drag-and-drop capabilities to allow us to quickly redesign our page and ship new features.

Final Thoughts

We have worked on this revamp for a while, and we are really proud of our work! Thanks for taking the time to navigate our new site, and we hope you enjoy it!
